Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide sedation is a blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen. It is used in the dental setting the help relieve anxiety. You will notice a pleasant aroma, experience a sense of well-being, and most likely relax. We ask that you do not eat a large meal before you visit us if you plan on using nitrous oxide sedation. If you are pregnant, or think you may be pregnant, be sure you discuss that with your doctor.
Complications with nitrous oxide sedation are extremely rare. Its sedative effects are completely gone approximately five minutes after it is stopped. It is eliminated through the normal breathing process. This procedure has been in use for over 30 years with no adverse affects. Please be aware that there is an additional charge for nitrous oxide analgesia at our office.
